HAPPY NATIONAL POLKA DOT DAY!
Can you believe it after 90 years of rocking the dots, this National Polka Dot Day Minnie Mouse will be receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Rocking her iconic polka dots, Minnie Mouse inspires Disney fans and fashionistas around the globe with her timeless fun-loving, positive spirit. I can say she has definitely inspired me, continue reading to see how I chose to Rock the Dots this National Polka Dot Day!
Walk of Fame:
Since her first appearance in 1928's "Steamboat Willie," Minnie has appeared in more than 70 films! She's inspired fashion designers with her timeless red and white polka dot ensemble and has even used her celebrity status to promote for charitable causes.
Minnie will join other Disney characters with stars like Donald Duck, Tinker Bell, Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, Kermit the Frog and of course Mickey Mouse.
How I Rock The Dots?:
Minnie has inspired me throughout my whole life and has taught me many lessons. One of my favorite lessons learned from Minnie is how to Rock the Dots!
This outfit thatI came up with for National Polka Dot is subtle but screams Minnie. The dress and shirt are from Forever 21, Boots are from Macy's and the bag is from Loungfly.
When it comes to polka dots black and white are always my go to. The reason being is that you can accessories the look in many ways. This black velvet button up dress is one of my favorite buys from Forever 21. I paired it with this quarter sleeve polka dot shirt to tie in for my rock the dots look. Whats also great about this look is that even if your not a huge polka dot fan this shirt is just the right amount so you don't feel like your overwhelmed.
Accessorizing is key to pushing an outfit to its full potential and nowadays your cellphone is your best accessory. OtterBox just released its Disney cases and they bring that iconic Disney Style. I decided to pair my Minnie Stripped Phone Case with this outfit to pay homage to the diva that started it all. Not only do these cases bring you that iconic protection OtterBox supplies but it mixes in the fun and light hearted Disney style everyone strives for. I love the way accessories pop on a black and white outfit. The bold red lip and minnie bag from Loungfly tie everything together. And the most important rule of all no Minnie look is complete without a pair of ears!
